Happy New Year!

Yes, I know it’s a bit late. My apologies. I’m looking forward to the start of school. Today I am going to gripe about media bias. It’s extremely irksome to me when only one side of a story, or a slanted story. When I watch the news, I want to hear the facts. ALL the facts, not just ones that support the reporter’s stance. Take, for example, the current crisis in the Middle East concerning Israel and Gaza. Media everywhere (well, all the media where I am) have been touting the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli missiles, but in these same reports not a word is breathed about the number of Israelis killed by rockets launched by Hamaas. Is this bias? I would say so. If you’re going to say, “The number of children killed in Palestine has risen to…”, then you should also say, “The number of children killed in Israel has risen to…” Please, please tell both sides of the story. We are not sheeple to be lead around by the media.

Merry Christmas!
Posted by admin at 8:15 am in General Thoughts

Wow, Christmas is almost upon us! I’ve been rushing around, figuring school out and trying to find just the right gift for everybody. There have been a lot of ice storms and snow lately. Today, for example, there is freezing rain. Icy roads abound. I’m not planning on leaving the house today! At least, not until it warms up a bit.

Again, It’s Been a While…
Posted by admin at 6:45 pm in General Thoughts

Wow… I honestly thought I posted here last week. I don’t know where that post went! Anyway, I must again apologize. It seems that every post lately has been me apologizing for not posting. I feel guilty every time I start a post! Anyway, to catch you up….
My computer has crashed a few times, I have lost connection to the internet repeatedly, and I’m currently using a borrowed power cord because mine mysteriously died last week.
I have a five page paper due Monday. It’s not an easy paper, and I’ve been working on the research and intro for two weeks. I finally finished the paper today, but it’s so rough you could use it as sandpaper.
I don’t think I’m going to make it home again before Thanksgiving :( . By the way, I wince every time someone calls Thanksgiving “Turkey Day”. It’s not about eating turkey, people! It’s all about being grateful for what you have and a time for reflection on how blessed we truly are. Consider this: If you are reading this, you more than likely have a roof over your head and food to eat. You have a way to stay connected to the world, because to be reading this you have to be connected to the internet. Do you have any idea how–I’m not going to say lucky–blessed you really are? Please consider this before calling it Turkey Day.
That’s it for now, folks! Hopefully I’ll see you again soon!

Finally Friday
Posted by admin at 6:53 am in General Thoughts

I don’t mind the school week, but it is still nice when it ends. I like having a break to just relax. The weekends are amazing, because even though I do my homework for Monday, I don’t feel rushed or stressed. I think after I finish workstudy today I will just hang out, maybe watch some movies with friends. That’s one of the best ways to relax! Oh, and sleep. Lots and lots of sleep!

Not Too Busy Today
Posted by admin at 11:35 am in General Thoughts

I only had two classes today. My Spanish teacher is in California for two weeks, and my English teacher cancelled class today for unknown reasons. So I’m kicking back, relaxing….right. I’m actually catching up on my homework while I can. I have workstudy later, so I want to get as much done as possible. After work I have a Calculus study group (yippie) and then I have to work out. I’m doing a fitness challenge called 25 Days of Fitness, so I’m really committed to it…for this month, anyway…

Sprained My Wrist
Posted by admin at 7:58 pm in General Thoughts

I sprained my wrist the other day, so this is taking forever to type! I’m making soooo many mistakes. Lucky me, I have the backspace key! It is a little bit hard to write my papers, though. I’m currently writing three. Plus, my handwriting really stinks, so here’s hoping my calculus teacher can read my quiz!!!
Anyway, I should probably get back to work on my papers….

I Can’t Believe…
Posted by admin at 1:24 pm in School Stuff

…that the weekend came so quickly!!! Again I find myself apologising to my readers for the long delay. To make up for it, I will have an extra-long blog post at this time.
College is interesting so far. I have had my first calculus test–no word on the results as yet–and several small quizzes. By my reckoning, I have an A, but we’ll see how that holds up after the test. I’ll probably find out on Monday.
I am the only person in my English class with an A; I have ten points on anyone else. The teacher recently sent out an email saying that he was disappointed in our performance in class and that we need to act like college students, not high school students. I personally shrugged this off. I know it is aimed at the class in general, so I’m not terribly upset. I was a tad bit offended with the generalization, though. Also, we have a 4-6 page paper due Monday.
My Spanish class is simple. I’m not sure why I got put in Elementary Spanish since I had 2 years in high school and made an A both years. It can’t hurt as a GPA booster, though. My teacher is a native speaker.
My seminar class is really good, it’s a lot of fun. Unfortunately, my teacher fell recently and snapped a ligament, so she’ll be out for a bit. While I don’t mind missing class :P I certainly mind the reason.
That should catch you up on my life for now! Oh, and I forgot to mention my workstudy. I work at a preschool a mile and a half from the school. I walk to work, since I don’t have a car. It’s a 38 minute walk one way. I work 2 hours a day every day but Tuesday, since workstudy stipulates that we can only work 8 hours a week.
That’s all for now! Ta-ta, my lovely readers!

Weekend
Posted by admin at 5:38 am in Friends & Family, School Stuff

I never thought I would be this busy in college. On the other hand, I actually go out and do things, not just study. I’m making some new friends and having, in general, a lot more fun than I had at my old school. Of course, all I did there was study. I have to say, I’m not nearly as stressed anymore. Plus, I feel a lot more confident now!

Wow, after saying I was going to post more I didn’t post anything for a week. Sorry!!!!! I really didn’t mean to do that to you, my faithful readers. I’m sure you must have gotten frustrated with me a number of times over this. I will try to do better, I promise! Please forgive me!

Ha!

I bet you were all expecting a big delay while I got adjusted to college life. I proved you right, didn’t I? It’s been a whole week, but I’m back! Did you miss me? I missed you!! Anyway, I just got back from the Labor Day holiday, and school picks back up tomorrow. I’m mostly finished with my homework–I still have a bit of calculus left to do, but it’s only a few problems. I’m just putting it off for now.
